Integrated

An integrated course is an intensive 'accelerated' course provided by one flight training organisation or approved training organisation, designed to take those with zero or minimal flying hours to obtain a frozen ATPL which then satisfies basic airline recruitment criteria. It should be noted that if you already possess a PPL, you may be eligible for a dispensation of an integrated course. The integrated training avenue is widely regarded as the 'approved' training avenue.

Duration: 16-19 Months

Average Cost: £79,000

Multi-Crew Pilot Licence

A Multi-Crew Pilots Licence (MPL)  course enables a student pilot to obtain an MPL from one flight training organisation/approved training organisation. At present, MPL courses are only delivered in collaboration with a partner airline. Greater emphasis is placed on multi-crew cooperation from the beginning with less 'basic' flying & more simulator time. Unlike Integrated, the MPL can somewhat limit your prosepcts once qualified. The costs are similar to Integrated.

Duration: 18-19 Months

Average Cost: Variable

Modular

The modular flight training route enables a student to obtain a frozen ATPL from zero or minimal flying hours by completing different flying 'modules' at either the same, or different schools. It can be & is often regarded as a more cost effective training avenue than integrated. Modules to complete are: Private Pilot Licence, ATPL Groundschool, Commercial Pilot Licence, Hours Building & Instrument Rating followed by Multi-Crew Cooperation course.

Although it is not a mandatory prerequisit to hold a degree to be a commercial pilot, this is an increasingly popular avenue amongst those seeking a career as a pilot. There are a variety of Universities  that partner numerous flight schools to offer different degree courses and flight training options.
